What auditors typically ask for at year-end in Taiwan
Most delays in a statutory audit are not about exotic accounting questions. They come from missing bank confirmations, incomplete inventory count sheets, or related-party listings that arrive after fieldwork has already started.
Before your year-end close, assemble a package that includes the trial balance, aged receivables and payables, fixed-asset roll-forward, payroll reconciliations to the labour bureau filings, and copies of material contracts signed during the year.
For companies with stock, plan the physical count so an auditor can attend. Photograph sealed areas, keep cut-off documents for the last shipments in and out, and note slow-moving lots that may need a write-down discussion.
If you use IFRS or Taiwan GAAP with significant estimates — useful lives, impairment, revenue cut-off for long contracts — document the judgment in writing. Auditors will test the model, but they also need to see how management reached the number.
Share the package with your engagement team two weeks before planned fieldwork. That single habit often removes a week of back-and-forth during the busiest filing season.
